This project was really simple!! And I LOVE how it came out.
You will need:PaperHot GlueScissorsRuleCord, twine or hempPencil and marker
I used a sheet of red, white and blue scrap paper along with red, white and blue construction paper. I measured and cut the red, white and blue construction paper so that it was all the same size. I cut my pieces to be 5″ x 5″.
Then begin to fold your pieces accordion style.
Once they are all folded accordion style, fold the pieces in half and seal with tape.
Once those are done begin taping the two matching halves together to make a wheel.
Then, I found a cup in the cupboard that was just the right size for the circles that I planned to glue onto of the wheels. I traced, cut and hot glued the circles on.
Now, I traced and cut my letters out from this piece of super cute 4th of July paper.
BUT, once I glued the letters on, they just didn’t POP. They were sorta washed out by the striped pattern.
So I cut some letters out from the matching construction paper, making sure that I cut the opposite color of the wheels. But first, just one last look at the U. I LOVED the way the U came out with the firework!
SO CUTE, right? But it just didn’t look right. So, this is what they look like with just the solid colored construction paper.
|Much better, right?|
I macrame’d some hemp to glue the letters too. Tutorial COMING SOON!
I used a marker to mark the exact spots I would glue the wheels. I measured it out with my ruler. Glued the wheels on and VIOLA!!! My New Patriotic Door Hanger!!
Isn’t it great? Now, I don’t have a super awesome front door to show you….YET!! So, here is my not so shabby apartment front door!
I LOVE it!!! I hope you do too! I would LOVE to see if you try this and make one for yourself!
