Pastel Layered Rainbow Cake

2012 FLEW BY so fast, before you know it Spring will be here, which is why I wanted to share this post with y’all again. This is an old post from Alie’s 3rd birthday. I made her this pastel layered rainbow cake. Besides being a wonderful birthday cake it’s also perfect for Spring and Easter.

For Alie’s cake I decided to do a layered rainbow cake in colors that matched her party!  If you buy the Walmart brand of food color it comes with a “how to” chart on the back.  SO helpful!

I only did 4 layers and although I really like how it turned out, I think for the next one I would like more layers and thinner layers too.
I frosted it with whipped white frosting.  I used a little bit of the frosting to make some polka dots for her cake.  I didn’t notice at the time but my cake carrier has a small lip inside that the handle fits into.  The frosting on the cake stuck to it. 🙁

I made garland to go onto of the cake.  It’s tiny tissue paper pom poms!  They are so cute and fun to make! Tutorial HERE!

Alie LOVED her cake!! 🙂

AND…..this is what it looked like on the inside!

It was a wonderful birthday for my sweet Alie Marie!
