Scotts Snap Spreader System Review

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Texas had a horrible drought nearly all of last year.  Our yard has SUFFERED.  Our front yard has sporadic grass plugs here and there.  It’s all that’s left of the dead grass. Our backyard has no grass, but as become a weed factory.  There are literally so many weeds we can’t find the grass.

My husband works long hours all week. Then on the weekends, although he will take care of the yard I know he is exhausted.  I would love to be able to take that chore off his hands, so he can have a weekend of ease.  This new Scotts® Snap® Spreader System sounds PERFECT for me.

First, there is no guess work. HUGE perk for me.  The last time I handled a spreader and fertilizer, the bag stated that it covered 5000 sq ft.  Our entire home is 2600, not sure about the lot but I can assure you the backyard isn’t even close to 5000 sq ft.  I ended up spreading the WHOLE bag!  Not even making it to the side or front of the house.  So if this things does that calculation for me, GREAT!

Second, no cutting, opening or pouring which means no spilling!  You simply pick up the bag snap it onto the spreader, lock it in place and you’re off.  It auto sets the flow rate for you. It also has an EdgeGuard feature keeping all those sprinkles off your drive way, patio and sidewalks. NO WASTE!  I’m telling you, I LOVE this thing and I haven’t even got my hands on one….yet!!!

Doesn’t it sound great!  I really can’t wait to buy one.  And it’s the perfect time to get one and get your yard ready for summer.  Alice has grown up in Arizona for her first few years.  Now, being back in our home town of Houston, I’m excited for her to see all the green, the beach and walk and play in soft grass.  I need soft thick beautiful grass for her precious feeties and I’m certain I can achieve that with this spreader.  I already know firsthand for living most of my life in Houston that Scott products work.

Easy Fabric Wreath Tutorial

I said I would be back with the easiest fabric wreath tutorial for my Fun Fabric Spring Wreath, and so I am! 🙂

This one is SO EASY!!  First, let me say, I have either been super busy or just feeling BLAH!  And the month of February here on this blog REALLY shows that.  Come to find out, my bottle of Female Hormonal Balancing herbs was bad.  Like, I let it sit outside in the mail box too long bad.  I didn’t notice this until weeks of taking them.  And after being on them for over a year it was like I just suddenly stopped.  I was a WRECK! BUT…I’m back, new bottle, new smile, clean house, happy hubs and daughter!  So I’m back in the blogsphere!
That being said, I missed the Spring Fling announcement!!  I was thinking just the other day “where are the spring link parties??”.  It wasn’t hard to find!  When I saw the dates they would post I went on a crazy craft hunt in my home.  I put together my Spring Mantel mostly with stuff I already had.  I only had to buy yarn and ladybugs.  So, when I tell you this is easy, I mean like I put this together in an hour easy!  Well, the wreath part.  The pom poms were maybe another half hour!  Pom pom tutorial coming soon!!
You will need:
a wreath form, foam would be best
pins or hot glue and a glue gun

Take your fabric and cut it into squares.  Mine here are about 3″ x 3″.
Fold your square into a triangle.
And fold it one more time.

Dab on a dot of glue, or use a pin if you have them.  I didn’t have pins so glue had to do!
and place it on your wreath.
Now, you’ll notice that this happens!  It flips open to the first triangle.
There are two ways to fix this.  One, when you layer the next triangle on top it will hold the other down.
But sometimes that doesn’t work.  So, I just put a little dot of hot glue on the inside to hold the folds together.  When you use pins for this they don’t flap open as much.
Now, repeat that process a few dozen times…
yes….that is a Monchichi!
After a while you will have this!!!
So cute, right?  My husband thought of the yellow pom poms and ladybugs.  He’s so crafty!!  Pom poms are also really easy to make and I will share that tutorial with you a little later.  I gotta tell ya, I was really surprised with how fast and easy this was!  AND, I pinned (bought pins with the yarn and ladybugs) the pom poms and ladybugs on so that when I’m ready to change up the look a little bit I can.  I think some pretty burlap rosettes would look nice on this wreath, don’t you?

And here it is on the mantel.  You can see how I pieced the mantel together and hear the sentimental story behind this wreath if you click here!  This wreath is made from my beloved nephew Khaleeq’s old sheet.

Bright and Cheery Spring Mantel

I’ve noticed that my sense of style for my home revolves around Alice.  Last year I went with soft pretty pastels, as Alice was still in toddler mode. She had a sweet soft squeaky voice.  She wore lots of soft pastels.  This year the sweet squeaky voice is a little bit more grown up.  She likes to wear bright happy colors.  She’s rambunctious, full of life and always happy.  She is definitely a CHEERY kind of girl.  I noticed all this last night while I was taking pictures of the mantel and thinking of last years.
I used an old sheet that once belonged to my precious nephew Khaleeq.  Khaleeq is now a precious angel in Heaven above.  With this, my wreath now has a sweet sentimental value doesn’t it?  My hubby gave me the idea to add the pom pom flowers and ladybugs.  I especially love the ladybugs, they are Alice’s favorite.  Her nursery was all ladybugs and she was even a ladybug for her first Halloween.  The wreath was just too small to hang on the shutters by itself.  So, I made a pennant banner from the sheet.  I love the way they look together.
I plan on writing up a tutorial on how to make this wreath later this weekend.  It’s so easy, y’all will LOVE it!
I use more of Khaleeq’s sheet and wrapped these candles.  I left the burlap on a couple of the candles I had decorated for Valentine’s day and added matching green flowers.
I added our Bless this Family piece my hubby bought next to the candles.
For the other side, I added an antique glass bottle that was once my Grandma’s, a couple little glass jars filled with green glass beads and tied with burlap, an Easter cross I found at Walmart and my newly painted candle holder (sometimes cake stand) with a sweet bright red ceramic bird on top.

What do y’all think??  I’m really happy with it!  Make sure you come back later this week to see how to make this cute wreath.
