Remembering Memorial Day and Memorial Day Crafts

Memorial Day is right around the corner. I want to say that honoring our fallen soldiers that fought for our freedom is most important. Lets all remember that and to teach our kids that memorial day is more than just a holiday from school or from work, it’s more than hot dogs and bbq, it’s more than swimming and playing ball outside. It’s remembering those that bravely gave their lives fighting for our free right to have a day off from work and school, our free right to bbq, swim and play outdoors, our free right to live in the USA. I found this wonderful website called Honor and Remember. You can find the names of fallen soldiers along with a lot more information. Here is the official Honor The Fallen site.

I looked up ways to teach our kids about Memorial Day and I came across these great sites:

Find Memorial Day parades anywhere here.

Here is a list of Memorial Day books for kids.

You can adopt a Soldier here and send them letters and care packages.

You can also take small US flags to a local cemetary and leave them at a soldier’s grave.

Light a candle, say a prayer, take a moment of silence or release a balloon at 3pm on Memorial Day with your kids.

And then there are crafts…..

Last year I made this patriot banner from paint chip samples.  I still have it and will be decorating with it this Memorial Day.  I wanted to share it with y’all again.  It’s an easy and cute banner to put together.

Click here to see the quick tutorial I did for this banner.

Here are a few more crafts I found that would be nice for Memorial Day.

Here is a cute idea for a Memorial Day Musical Flag.

This Ribbon Flag looks like something I can do with my Alie.

There a TON of great patriotic crafts on this website, including this idea for painting fireworks.  This is another craft I’m going to be doing with Alie.

These cute M&M Firework treats look like fun to make.

I just LOVE this next idea.  It’s a perfect little kids craft for painting fireworks.

Here is a great idea for Memorial Day decor, painted jars for tea lights.

Any crocheters out there?  These crochet bangles looks fun.

This patriotic wreath would be great addition to your Memorial Day decor.

This next post is more than just about pinwheels.

If y’all have any other great Memorial Day crafts of remeberence ideas I would LOVE for you to share them with us in the comment section below.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
