31 Days To Find The Romance In Your Marriage.

I’ve decided to join The Nester’s 31 days series.  For the series, I’ve decided to focus on my man!

I focus so much of my time and effort on our sweet Alice Marie, our home, this blog. I feel like the hubby gets a bit neglected.  I focus so much on everything but romance.  We say “I love you”, give quick kisses here and there.  When is the last time you had a full on romantic experience with your significant other?  We have “date nights” here and there, but they are usually filled with worries, calls, texts wondering how the kids are.  Then at the end of “date night” it’s a mad dash to get home to check on the kids again, right?  That is how it usually goes for me!

Our days are so busy we don’t even have time to get our “to do’s” done, much less think about romance.  David and I are usually so exhausted we can hardly stay awake to catch up on the DVR.

When I look at David, I see the man I first fell in love with.  The one I could not stop thinking of, couldn’t go 20 minutes without hearing his voice.  I would anxiously wait to see him again.  He was all I thought of, all day, all night, every hour.  He is still that man, and even though I have a million other things occupying my mind and my time, he is still that man I couldn’t bear to be without for even a moment.  As crazy in love with him as I was in the beginning, I am even more in love with him now.  He is my protector, my provider, my companion, my strong arm, the father of my child, my greatest love, my happily ever after, he is my hero.

I want him to know I still feel that way about him.  Now, I know that he knows I love him, but I want him to FEEL how much I love him.  So, for day 1, I have chosen touch. Touch is HUGE with me.  Just a simple lingering touch from David can calm every frazzled nerve in my body, it calms my mind.  David’s touch quiets my mind for just a moment, just long enough to stop the chaos.

This month, I want to work on loving touching my husband.  Holding his arm or hand as we are walking together.  Touching his back as I walk by him.  Instead of the normal hello or goodbye kisses, I want to pull him in, touch his face and let the kiss linger just a moment longer.  Rub his shoulders, tuck myself into his side while watching TV.  I want him to feel my love for him through touch.

It’s seems so simple, but I know first hand just how much touch can lift your spirits and make your heart swell.  So….with that being said, go touch who you love!!  HA!

Each day this month I’m going to write about a little something we can do to find the romance in our marriages/relationships.  If you have any suggestions, ideas, fun things you know worked for you, I would LOVE for you to share them in the comments below.  I will be updating this first post with a link for each day of the series, so you wont miss anything.

Teaching Kids to Give Back by Fighting Hunger in America

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walmart for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

In one of Alice's princess story books, there is a story in which Cinderella and a young girl collect clothes, book and toys that they no longer use and donate them to the children in town that don't have enough for themselves. They also gave bags of food and together they make lunch for all the kids in town.  It was very intriguing to Alice and every since she's wanted to help others.

We have expierenced not being able to put food on the table before. We are blessed with a wonderful family that helped see us through. Now, we are in a position to pay it forward and that is just what we are doing.

September is Hunger Action Month and in honor of that Walmart is working with customers, suppliers and associates nationwide to donate up to 53 MILLION meals to Feeding America and to give 2.5 million to aid in hunger relief. In 2010 they launched Fighting Hunger Together.

One in six families in America do not know where their next meal will come from. By purchasing from General Mills, Kellogs, Unilever, Kraft Foods and ConAgra Foods you can generate a meal donation three different ways. You can follow the directions on the packaging, engaging in the "Give Meals" section at Walmart.com/hunger, or by using a mobile app to generate meals. You can turn one product into 7 meals!

With the Golden Spark promotion you can  win $50K for your community! Walmart will randomly award 40 “Golden Sparks” valued at $50,000 each to consumers who participate in the Fighting Hunger Together Golden Spark Promotion. The winners will choose a community to receive the funding to start or expand a backpack program that provides vital meals to food-insecure children during weekends when they do not have access to free- and reduced-price school meals.

Will you join Alice and I as we fight to bring hunger relief.  We clicked the Help Secure Meals menu at Walmart.com/hunger and watched several videos. Watching the videos together and answering the survey questions after (yes, she even helped me with my answers!), we helped secure meals for Feeding America.  It's an easy way to get involved and help at from home.

Next time we go shopping I will have Alice help me find specially marked products with the special Feeding America code. With every code we enter we will help secure 7 meals.

These are easy and simple ways to help fight hunger and a great way to help teach our children about giving to others.  Having Alice get involved with me has really given her so much pride, and has taught her to be thankful for what she has and the generosity to give it to others. I hope you will join us.

I would love for you to leave a comment below and share any personal stories you have of helping a family who was experiencing hunger or has someone helped you?  I would love to hear.

Old Wooden Fence Fall Mantel

I have collected quite a few pieces of post Hurricane Ike wood.  It’s been stored in our garage for a LONG TIME.  I finally got up the nerve to do something “out of MY box”!  When I first thought of hanging up a chunk of Hurricane weathered fencing over my mantel I thought I had gone crazy. But, now that it’s up, I think I LOVE it.

That wreath is my first handmade wreath.  Those cute pumpkin Mr. Wonderful picked up for me in the Target Dollar Spot.  I’m IN LOVE with that Glade candle.

The pumpkin and fall pots are pretty leftovers from last years mantel.

I quickly made that little burlap pennant banner.  The fence board just “needed something” over there, didn’t it?

My SIL Teresa gave me that cute grapevine pumpkin! The other pumpkins are real, pine cones and berries are from a cute little fall decor set I bought for Alice.

What do y’all think?  Have you ever stepped out of your comfort zone to create something?

Be sure to stop by tomorrow to see how I turned this old wood into art and how this precious girl loves to help her mama decorate!
