Family Fun Lego Christmas Cards

I have family all over the world! Here in the US and over seas. The holidays are a very busy time with shopping and baking and traveling. Being able to make cute personalized Holiday cards ONLINE to send to loved ones is PERFECT!! Save money on stamps, trips to the post office, gas and it’s one less thing to clutter your home! I know mine looks like the gift wrapping, gift box tornado struck.  Plus it’s fun.  Alice loved making her Minifigure Lego Holiday Card.

It’s a fun new tradition we are adding to our holiday tradition list. Cookies for Santa, carrots for the reindeer, the new Christmas eve pajama gift, signing by the tree and having  hot cocoa. Now we love sitting down together and creating fun holiday card to send online.

This is the adorable card Alice made. She included her cousins, our pet, their pet and her Aunt and Uncle.

my lego card

This is the card I created! And yes, my husband is dressed as Indian Jones!! Funny story, we have some “yard cats” which would be stray cats that we have been feeding from time to time that have ended up at our door everyday for food. I know if we didn’t feed them they would go away but they are so cute!! Well, our neighbor was commenting one day about all these cats and where they have come from. Yea….insert awkward laugh into that conversation! Well, anywho, the “yard cats” are even included in our card!

There are so many fun wardrobes to play with!

While I was making our card I was PHOTO-BOMBED, which was quite funny!

As a family-owned company LEGO Systems is in the business of helping families “build” memories. The LEGO Minifigure Holiday card is yet another way the whole family can come together, create and share. There are so many backgrounds, facial expressions, hairstyles and a whole host of playful wardrobe styles, families (and friends) can create a one-of-a-kind LEGO Minifigures Family Photo. You can even include your family pet, as you see Alice and I did.

It really was a lot of fun.

Go make your card now for that special someone! There is even a fireworks background that is perfect for that New Years card you want to send!!

Easy Christmas Art with the Dremel Micro

I am just in love with the Easy Personalized Kid Decorated Christmas Art we made with our new Dremel Micro 8050!

Easy Personalized Kid Decorated Wooden Christmas Art

Being that this was my first time using the Dremel I was pretty nervous.  Luckily there are plenty of “How To” videos on the Dremel website.

It took just a bit of trial and error to figure out engraving. The slower the speed of the Dremel the easier it is to control your lines.

I played with the different Dremel tool attachments, discovering what each one did. Have to admit that was fun!

My husband created this Christmas tree cut out from a cookie cutter.

Easy Christmas Art with Dremel

We decided to make an ornament that our daughter Alice could decorate herself.  We thought to add it to a plaque creating a keepsake decoration for Christmas that we could display year after year.

We let Alice paint the wooden Christmas tree ornament with pretty green glitter paint.

Once it was dry, I applied the hot glue and she carefully added the beads for ornaments.

Now to the wooden plaque. After tracing the letters with a pencil, I used a Dremel high speed cutter to engrave Alice’s name and the year into the wood plaque. The new LED light feature is great!

Then I painted the plaque. I discovered after I painted that I needed to sand the letters down. I carefully sanded the letters down with a Dremel sanding wheel. Then I added another coat of white.

I let Alice trace her name and the year with sparkly paint of her choice. I tried to convince her to use red but purple won. I mean, it is being decorated by her right?!

I just love how it came out! Wouldn’t it just make a wonderful present for a loved one! Perfect for Grandparents or Aunts and Uncles!

This one is MINE, though. I love it and it’s going up on my wall every year for Christmas.

Dremel offers a full line of versatile tool systems that provide the perfect solution for almost any craft, hobby or DIY project.

Wood Peppermint Stick Tutorial

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of FrogTape provided by ShurTech Brands, LLC for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am so delighted and surprised with how great this project worked out!! With the help of FrogTape Textured Surface, our Candy Cane Peppermint Stripes are PERFECT!!

For this project you will need:

Wood stakes (any size you like)

FrogTape® Textured Surface

White paint (We used exterior)

Red paint (We used apple red spray paint)

pencil and ruler

Paint your wood stakes white.

Once they are painted and dry, you will need to used your ruler and pencil to measure and mark where you would like the stripes to go.  Once your stakes are complelty dried, it’s time to get out the FrogTape®.  This is the How To Use FrogTape® part of the tutorial.

Cut strips of the tape and carefully apply on the measured marks you left on the stakes.

After your strips are placed on the stakes, you will need to rub a damp cloth over the strips of tape firmly. The tape is pretreated with PaintBlock® and this will activiate it to help ensure a good seal.

To apply the PaintBlock® Edge Sealer first, shake the bottle, then remove the top and foil. Make sure you keep all the tops. Attach the brush applicater tightly to the bottle. Apply the sealer with the brush generously over the edges you want to seal.

Once you are done applying the PaintBlock®, wash and clean the brush right away, then cover the sealer.

Allow the edge sealer to dry for 15 mintues before painting.

Once paint is dry to the touch you can remove the strips.

Can you see how FLAWLESS that line is!?? I was so surprised by how perfectly sharp the lines are. AMAZING right?

Here you can see the texture in the wood stakes before I removed the strips.

And the perfect, sharp edges made by the tape right over the texture!

Here is how our awesome new Peppermint Candy Sticks look in our yard!

What do y’all think? Didn’t it come out great!? I think they would made great sticks for holiday lollipops, too!
