Christmas in July Guest Marty with A Stroll Thru Life

Everyone please welcome the ever lovely Marty with A Stroll Thru Life.  Here is a little bit about Marty.

I love to create tablescapes and vignettes and love to shop Goodwill and the Dollar Tree to create beautiful vignettes.  I think beauty is a matter of taste, not money and I love to find wonderful treasures to redo and mix into my vignettes.  I have so much fun each week hosting Table Top Tuesday where you all inspire me with how creative you are.  I also love to host our Seasonal Cloche Parties.  Again, I think anything looks amazing under a cloche.  I hope you enjoy my Christmas Tablescape put together with finds from GW and DT.  Thanks tons for having me and hope you will join our TTT and Cloche Parties.

Pulling together an elegant Christmas Tablescape can seem daunting and expensive, however with a little thrift shopping through your Goodwill and the Dollar Tree, you can put a table together you will be proud of.

Most of the items to create this tablescape were thrift shopping treasures.

Shop the house for your favorite things and incorporate them in the table design.

I started with three of my cloches.  Everything always looks fabulous under a cloche. A lace tablerunner from the 99c store forms the base for the centerpiece.

I used my largest cloche to set the theme for the table.  An Angel figurine to represent the season.

I found this wonderful angel at GW last year.  She has beautiful lace and ruffles on her dress, and she’s holding a small heart with stars that says Joy.

A bird topped Bell Cloche was elevated on a cakestand.  Inside is a lovely marble covered orb, and a gold dove from the Dollar Tree is hanging off the side.

The small cloche holds a Faberge Egg with a jeweled Christmas Tree on the front.  It was a gift from my DH many years ago.  A pretty ornament from the DT would look just as good.

White pointsettias and gold leaves from the Dollar Tree create a lovely floral arrangement.  Add a few DT gold ornaments at the base to add additional interest.

I added more DT ornaments and floral picks around the table to fill in the centerpiece.  This also makes sure that each guest has something special to see.

Pull out your finest linens and china for the placesettings.  Everything I’ve used except for the wine glass and the sherbert came from GW or Thrift stores.  The placemats and napkins are tissue linen with a scalloped embroidery detail.  The china is Grace made in Japan found at GW layered with an everyday white salad.  The sherbet/compote glasses were a gift from a friend, and the wine glass was a wedding gift many years ago.  Everyday flatware looks right at home with the more elegant dishes.  Your everyday white dishes would look just as elegant and DT glasses would work perfectly.  The linens set the mood.  You could use a lace tablecloth, or even buy lace by the yard from Walmart and make your own tablecloth.

An elegant table that didn’t break the bank.  Have fun, I know you can pull together something fabulous.

STUNNING!!!  I hope y’all will visit Marty’s blog A Stroll Thru Life and see all of her GORGEOUS displays.

Thanks so much, Marty for sharing these wonderful tips with us.

Springtime Crepe Paper Rose Tutorial

I have shared this tutorial on a couple blogs in the past but never here on mine.  I have received quite a few WONDERFULLY SWEET comments on them, so I thought it was the perfect time to share it here.  Spring is here, well it’s here for us in PHX, and these pretty ‘lil roses are quite easy to make.

Roll the top and secure it with a dab of glue.
Start loosely winding the paper around the middle and fold it over as you go.
It will start to look like this.
I did a swipe of glue every few times around.
Remember to roll loosely and fold over as you go.
VOILA! You have a sweet lil paper crepe rose.
While I was making these, Alie handed me this one and said “look mama a fower (flower)” She made this one for me.  I have put it somewhere safe so that I can treasure it for years to come. :)

Do you know Marty with A Stroll Thru Life?  I totally adore her.  I really REALLY want to join her Spring Cloche Party but I don’t have anything “Spring-ish” to place in my cloche yet.  So I thought I would showcase my crepe paper roses.  This way I could join her party.  I hope you will too!

I would LOVE to know what you think of my tutorial.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Don’t forget to ENTER MY GIVEAWAY!!!!!

Ami in Bloggyland

I have discovered the TRUE meaning of “blogging” and I love it!!  Unfortunately, I have gotten side-tracked by it.  It is much fun to see what everyone is doing.  I love making new blog friends and being inspired by all the awesome crafts everyone has.  Some of the stuff I have seen, I would of NEVER thought of.  Like Courtney with Between U and Me
I had to tell Courtney she has inspired me and I am ALREADY planning Alie’s 3rd birthday party!!
Kara with Craftastical made this Quilled Monogram Letter, OUT OF SCRAP PAPER!
Teresa with Nestled In Rosenberg , made this framed piece of art from a DOLLAR STORE GIFT BAG.  Teresa is my hubby’s sister and I kept telling him “from a DOLLAR STORE GIFT BAG!!!” over and over again!

My other sweet and wonderful sister-in-law Emily with DecorChick! ,added rhinestones to these DOLLAR STORE hurricane glasses.  How cute are these?!!

Stacy with Just Sew Sassy ,re-fashioned this $3 dress from WalMart.  The moment I FINALLY get my own sewing machine, this will be my first sewing project!!

There is SO MUCH greatness out there, I think I am going to HAVE to do a weekly “look at what I found” blog and feature some of y’all.  No really!!   I want to dedicate a day specifically to the wonderful things I find out in “Bloggyland!” I am not sure what day exactly, but I have made a Featured by AliLilly button just for this purpose.

Now, as for my projects, these are a few of the new jewelry pieces I have, FINALLY completed.

The earrings below I could not quite decide on the bottom piece.  So I thought to do all three and let the buyer choose which base they liked best.

I have a cute story to share with you, as well.  I was practicing making crepe paper flowers from a tutorial I found here at Alison’s blog Oopsey Daisy

I had made a few, but needed to start dinner.  I had to put them somewhere out of the reach of Princess Alie’s little grabby hands.  I placed them in an empty cloche I had.  They look so cute in there don’t they!?

As sweet as that looks, this is what I have decided to place in my VERY FIRST CLOCHE!!

As soon as I decide on a specific day to showcase y’alls wonderful projects and recipes, I will let everyone know.  I am also thinking of doing a giveaway from my AliLilly Etsy Shop, as soon as I reach 100 followers!!  What do y’all think??!

Kara, Courtney, Teresa, Emily, Stacy and Alison if you’d like you can grab my feature button!! Y’all are my very first features!!! :)
