I love making personalized pieces of art!  One of  a kind pieces of art are so special aren’t they?  So, when Blueprint Social gave me the opportunity to try out the Mod Podge Photo Transfer Medium, I knew almost immediately what I wanted to create.

PHOTO ART ON WOOD!!

I knew I wanted to use pictures of Alice at the beach.  I found a PERFECT quote to go along with the photos.  My hubs came up with the wood pieces and the “sandy” like back ground to add them to.

He gathered the wood pieces and sanded them down.

Then he spray painted the larger piece of wood for the background.

Then he spray painted the board with textured spray paint that added a “sandy” like texture to it.  He got this awesome close up of it to show y’all the texture. Pretty cool, isn’t it?

Now it was time to use the Mod Podge Photo Transfer Medium.

Once you’ve selected an image, you’ll need to print it out on regular copy paper. If there is any wording, be sure to invert the image so that it transfers correctly.

Trim your printed image, make sure you don’t leave any white as that will also transfer onto your surface along with the image.

Place your trimmed image onto wax paper and cover the image with the Mod Podge Photo Transfer Medium. Use a nice thick layer nearly covering all the image so that you can not see it anymore.

Carefully pick up your covered image and add it to the surface. I, very gently smoothed the image to the wood making sure there were no air bubbles.

Allow the piece or pieces to dry for 24 hours.

After they are dry apply a wet sponge to the image and let it soak for a few minutes. Then using the same sponge, squeeze out the excess water and gently rub off the paper in a circular motion.

It’s honestly, pretty spectacular to see your image appear as you rub away the paper!

Remember to be careful when rubbing off the paper. I had a few spots that image began to run away!

Pretty amazing though, right?  I have so many ideas for using this stuff!!

Here is my finished piece!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!

I also love that you can see the wood texture under the images. I think you can see that in the picture on the left in this shot.

I love that quote! I think it matches the pictures of Alice so perfectly!

This picture was our “trial” piece. I LOVE it, so I had to add it to the mantel as well.
